Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Victor Asuma Mejida, has stated that the outfit remains committed to collaborating with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) in ensuring that all workers in Ghana retire in dignity and with income security.

According to him, they have a collective responsibility in achieving this goal.

He made the remarks at the commissioning of the 53rd branch of SSNIT in Adenta of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, 28, 2025.

He commended SSNIT for the new branch, citing it as a step towards enhancing effectiveness and accessibility in Ghana’s pension sector.

He views the new branch as a symbol of growth and progress, embodying a shared vision of serving all National Pension Scheme contributors with excellence.

Victor Asuma Mejida urged staff to model professionalism, empathy, and service excellence across the SSNIT network.

‘’The NPRA and SSNIT have a collective duty to ensure that all workers in Ghana retire in dignity and with income security. At the NPRA, our mandate is to ensure the effective regulation and monitoring of the three-tier pension scheme to secure retirement income for all workers in Ghana. While SSNIT, as a key player in the first tier, has continued to demonstrate leadership in the administration of pensions, it is important to emphasise the need for building trust within the pension system. This requires modernising pension services through technology, decentralisation and infrastructural development.”

He reiterated that the NPRA as a regulator is committed to expanding pension coverage, promoting sustainable growth, enhancing accessibility and improving service delivery, and ensuring financial sustainability of the social security service scheme.

‘’I therefore call on the trust for continuous collaboration between our institutions to ensure that every Ghanaian worker, whether in the formal or informal sector, has access to secure, transparent and dignified retirement benefits.’’
