Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, has advised political party members, especially the young ones, to stop defending politicians who steal from the state.
According to her, it was about time young people in political parties allowed the ale to deal ruthlessly with selfish politicians who come into office to steal from our resources.
She indicated that the situation where young political party members are mobilised to go to state institutions protesting the arrest of suspected corrupt politicians must end.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Madam Daniels stated that some of these politicians are so greedy to the extent that they steal from the state and invest in different forms to benefit their children and families.
She said some of them are also greedy to the point that they ignore party people when in office but would want to depend on them when they get into trouble.
“This is to both NDC and NPP party supporters: don’t allow the greedy politicians to take you for granted. Don’t allow yourselves to be used in any selfish political agenda. When corrupt politicians are arrested, allow the laws of the country to deal with them. Don’t defend them or be storming institutions and demanding their release. The law is the law, and it must be applied in a manner that will ensure that all those who have stolen our resources will be punished.”
She also underscored the need for politicians who get the opportunity to serve to eschew all forms of corruption and work in the interest of the people.
She called on political leaders to also invest in the youth pod of their party and not abandon them, especially when they assume office.
