Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee, has submitted a formal request to the Ghana Medical and Dental Council (GMDC) to verify Ann Sansa Daly’s medical credentials.
The lawmaker noted that the woman who had been parading herself as a doctor and hosting a television show ought to be investigated.
Dr Afriye expressed concerns about Sansa Daly’s growing public profile, particularly on GHOne TV, where she regularly provides medical advice to viewers.
He said the minority was interested in the incident and demanding a response from the council.
President John Dramani Mahama recently revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) due to concerns over her lack of a valid medical licence to practise in Ghana.
As a medical doctor and MP, Dr Afriye demands official clarification on whether she is legally registered and licensed to practice medicine in Ghana.
He had therefore formally written to the Council requesting information on the medical registration status of Ann Sansa Daly.
Dr Afriye gave the Council one week to respond.
“This request is being made in the public interest to ensure that individuals offering health-related services or advice to the Ghanaian public meet the appropriate legal and professional standards as established by the Council,” he said.
Dr Afriyie has made four specific demands which are:
1. Confirmation on whether Sansa Daly is currently registered and licensed by the GMDC to practise medicine in Ghana.
2. Whether she has ever been registered with the GMDC in any capacity, including temporary or permanent registration.
3. Clarification on the legality of an unregistered individual presenting themselves as a medical doctor or offering health advice on public platforms in Ghana.
4. Coordination with the GMDC’s counterpart in the United States for verification of Sansa Daly’s credentials abroad.
