Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will not be able to arrive in Ghana to meet with the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng, a communicator of the party, Kwesi Botchwey, has revealed.
The special prosecutor has warned the former minister to present himself before the office today, Monday, June 2, 2025, or be declared wanted again.
The OSP also warned his office will trigger INTERPOL to ensure that Mr Ofori-Atta arrives in the country.
However, Kwesi Botchwey, who is a private legal practitioner and a communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that the medical condition of the former minister makes it impossible for him to come.
He disclosed this in a Facebook post on Sunday, June 1, 2025.He also indicated that Mr Ofori-Atta has requested that the meeting be conducted electronically.
His post read “Mr. Ofori-Atta will not be physically present in Ghana on June 2nd to appear before the Office of Special Prosecutor as originally agreed. This is because of an unexpected negative change in Mr. Ofori-Atta’s health circumstances.
Mr Ofori-Atta has availed himself for the OSP interview to be carried out electronically, as permitted by the Electronic Transactions Act for the purposes of eliciting a Cautioned Statement while he continues with his medicals.
The Human Rights Court has adjourned to 18 June 2025 for a ruling on a motion filed by former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta, seeking to restrain the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from declaring him wanted, among other reliefs.”
