Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu has announced that the government will establish a fund to push investments in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Ghana.
He disclosed this while answering questions on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
He told the House that he would table before Cabinet the proposal for consideration.
“In respect of TVET, I am working with cabinet to get approval to establish a Technical and Vocational Education Fund to spare investment in the education infrastructure for Technical and Vocational Education. This year, in the allocation of the GETFund formula, we provided for some dedicated financing for Technical and Vocational Education,” he stated.
The government in its 2025 budget allocated GHC77 million to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), alongside GHC33.6 million for the Ghana TVET Service.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson told Parliament that the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has received a total of Two Billion, Seven Hundred and Ten Million, Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred and Forty-Seven Ghana Cedis (GHS2,710,227,947.00) for the months of January, February, March and April, 2025.
He further reiterated that funding for the Free Senior High School Programme is now fully covered under the GETFund.
The move is aimed at addressing the challenges, including feeding, which previously impeded the smooth implementation of the programme.
