The Ghana Police Service, on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, has launched a major raid on an illegal mining operation at Bui Sobinso.
During the operation, 14 Chinese nationals and 10 Ghanaians were arrested as suspected illegal miners.
According to reports, the team that carried out the raid retrieved four pump-action guns, three pickup trucks belonging to Chinese nationals, and two excavators.
The suspected illegal miners are accused of degrading the Bui lands over time.
The team is in the process of moving nine other excavators left at the site by illegal miners.
Additionally, the team discovered another illegal mining hub and Chinese premises in Subinso, but the suspects escaped arrest.
