The Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of Resolution Centres to support 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates encountering challenges with Senior High School (SHS) admissions.
However, Larry George Botchway, Principal Information Officer for the Ministry of Education, stressed that once candidates finalise their school selections, no changes will be permitted.
In a recent interview, he noted that in previous years, numerous parents visited Ghana Education Service (GES) offices requesting school changes for their children, often citing lack of awareness regarding the selection process.
He advised parents to actively participate in the school selection process, emphasising that the ministry will strictly adhere to the placements made this year.
Candidates are required to select a total of seven schools, comprising five primary choices and two alternative schools, ranked in order of preference.
The selected schools must at least include three boarding schools, while the remaining two should be day schools.
He further admonished candidates and guardians to consider schools from Category C to alleviate the high demand for Category A schools.
Larry George Botchway refuted assertions that the Category C schools are inferior to Category
A school.
He stressed that there are quality schools within Category C and encouraged families to explore these options to reduce pressure on oversubscribed Category A schools.
