President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has called on Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to use the occasion of Eid ul-Adha to deepen national unity.
According to him, there was the need for us to reaffirm our collective commitment to building a better future for the country.
This was contained in his message celebrating the 2025 Eid ul-Adha.
He underscored the need for us to pursue the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation that defines the Eid ul-Adha celebration.
“Let’s use this celebration to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood and the commitment to work together to build the Ghana we want,” he stated.
The celebration is also known as Bakrid Eid, or the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice.
Muslims all over the world celebrate the festival in memory and honour of the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah’s command to sacrifice his son.
It is also celebrated to commemorate the end of the pilgrimage, which is a religious requirement.
Muslims who are financially secure are required to perform the Hajj at least once in their lifetime.
