The Wa Circuit Court has handed down prison sentences totalling 46 years to two notorious robbers who terrorised residents of the Wa Municipality.
Abdulai Ibrahim, alias Baba, a 34-year-old driver’s mate, and Abdulai Kipo, a 36-year-old butcher, were convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple counts of robbery.
Following a successful prosecution by the Upper West Regional Police Command, Ibrahim received a 28-year sentence and Kipo an 18-year sentence with hard labour, as presided over by His Honour Jonathan Avoogo.
The Command expressed satisfaction with the case’s outcome in a statement.
“This conviction demonstrates our unwavering commitment to making the Upper West Region a safe and secure environment for all,” the statement read.
“We will continue to pursue criminals relentlessly and bring them to justice.”
The convicts were connected with a string of robberies that terrorised communities in Napogbakole, Danko, SSNIT, and Konta — all within the Wa Municipality.
They were arrested through intelligence-led operations and detailed evidence gathering by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
