Dr. Clement Apaak, Deputy Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has extended good wishes to the approximately 603,328 candidates scheduled to sit for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) from June 11 to June 18, 2025.
The lawmaker and deputy minister described the examination as an important week in the lives of the candidates.
He said in a statement that the examination marks an important step in the educational journey of the candidates; hence, they should make the best out of it.
Dr Apaak noted that “education is not just about passing examinations. It is about becoming confident, responsible, and capable citizens who can help build a better Ghana. So as you enter the exam hall, carry with you not fear, but focus. Trust in what you have learnt. Think clearly, and give your best.”
A total of 603,328 candidates will sit for this year’s BECE, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females.
This figure includes both school and private candidates.
The examination for school candidates will be conducted at 2,237 centers nationwide, while 15 centers, mainly located in regional capitals, will serve private candidates.
Dr Apaak in his message encouraged them not to engage in any form of malpractice but to remain committed to finishing the exams by adhering to all the rules and regulations.
He assured that every one of them will have access to equity in secondary education, irrespective of where they come from.
“Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and the direction of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Ministry of Education is committed to making sure that every Ghanaian child — no matter where they are — has the opportunity to succeed. This commitment includes you.
You are the reason why we invest in schools. You are the reason why we formulate and implement better policies. You are the future we believe in.”
