A precarious situation exists at Yiwabra Nkwanta, where a dilapidated bridge poses significant risks to residents, farmers, traders, drivers, and schoolchildren.
The bridge serves as a vital link between Semreboi in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region and communities such as Omanpe, Ohiamadwene, and Domerabra in the Western North Region.

Over recent months, the bridge’s deteriorating condition has sparked serious safety concerns among residents, imperiling lives and hindering economic activities, particularly for cocoa farmers struggling to transport produce to market centers.

Some of the residents speaking with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM said the associated trauma is adversely affecting their mental health.
The difficulty in transporting goods to market has resulted in decreased incomes, threatening livelihoods.

Schoolchildren are also experiencing significant challenges, with some pupils reluctant to attend school due to the bridge’s condition and the fear of falling behind in their education, especially during flooding when parents must carry them across.
Pregnant women requiring medical attention are similarly affected, unable to access health facilities due to the bridge’s state. Consequently, the community is urgently appealing to the government for assistance in repairing the bridge to prevent potential loss of life.
