A total of 603,328 candidates nationwide are expected to undertake the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), commencing today, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and concluding on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The candidates comprise 297,250 males and 306,078 females, representing a 5.99 per cent increase from the 569,236 candidates registered in 2024.
Private candidates account for 1,661 registrations, with 858 males and 803 females participating, representing a 19.49 per cent rise from the 1,390 private candidates in 2024.
The BECE for school candidates will be administered at 2,237 examination centres nationwide, while 15 designated centres in regional capitals will cater to private candidates.
Over the course of the week-long examination, school candidates will sit for two papers daily, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
The examination encompasses 11 subjects, with each candidate expected to take an average of nine subjects, including the seven core courses: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Ghanaian Language, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, and Creative Arts and Design, in addition to Career Technology.
