Hon. Dr Grace Ayensu Dankwah, Member of Parliament for Essikado Ketan Constituency in the Western Region, makes a heartfelt appeal to nurses to return to work while negotiations with the government continue.
Speaking in an interview with Parliamentary Press Core, Dr. Dankwah, a medical doctor with experience in nursing, emphasised the critical role nurses play in the healthcare system.
“I understand the nurses’ grievances regarding their conditions of service, but I want to appeal to them to resume work while we continue to negotiate with the government,” she said. “As a doctor who has worked with nurses, I know how essential they are to the healthcare system. Their absence is having a significant impact on our hospitals, and patients are suffering.”
Dr. Dankwah acknowledged that the government is new and may need time to address the nurses’ concerns, but she stressed that the strike is having severe consequences, including potential loss of life. “I urge the nurses to return to work while we negotiate so that our hospitals can function and patients can receive the care they need,” she said.
