The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured a conviction against Adams Hamidu, alias Gyida, a 19-year-old robber.
The Wa Circuit Court handed down a verdict on June 5, 2025, sentencing Adams Hamidu to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for the crime of robbery.
In February 2025, Gyida and another masked individual robbed a victim of a blue Honda motorbike valued at GHC 20,000, a Tecno mobile phone valued at GHC 1,300, and cash amounting to GHC 10,800.
Through intelligence-led operations, Gyida was arrested on June 1, 2025, at Domowa, in the Wa-West District.
A statement issued by the police described the conviction of Hamidu and speaks to its commitment to dealing with criminal activities.
It also assured the public it will continue to fight crime and ensure the safety of Ghanaians.
