The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Apaak, conducted a tour of several examination centres in Tamale, Northern Region, as part of initiatives to boost the morale of candidates sitting for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
As the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Apaak’s visit also formed part of the government’s comprehensive nationwide monitoring of the BECE, which commenced earlier this week.
Dr extended warm greetings on behalf of the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and President John Dramani Mahama, explaining that the Minister’s absence was due to official commitments in Accra, hence his representation to deliver an encouraging message.
“We know it has not been easy, but we also believe you have worked very hard with the support of your teachers to come this far,” Dr Apaak told the candidates. “Have faith in yourselves. This is only a test of your memory and what you have been taught.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving conditions at the secondary and TVET levels.
According to him, infrastructure upgrades were being planned, including better accommodation, furniture, and feeding systems, to ensure a more supportive learning environment.
He further admonished the students to give their best, remain confident in their preparation and trust in both God and their own abilities.
“We are proud of you and confident that you will succeed,” he added.
