I’m definitely preparing myself and giving it strong thought to contest the NPP presidential race – KAA

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former presidential candidate and senior advisor to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during the 2024 campaign, has disclosed that he will be considering the possibility of contesting the presidential primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stated that as someone who had contested the race before, he is currently preparing himself and will soon make his intentions known.

He disclosed while speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM with host Kwabena Agyapong.

The former general secretary of the NPP was responding to a question on whether he has any interest in contesting the race again as he did in the past.

“I have had the interest before, so I am definitely preparing myself. “It is something I am giving a strong thought to, and in due course I will make my intentions known to the whole country,” he declared.

Meanwhile, he has expressed appreciation to the party for agreeing to hold its presidential primary earlier and expanding the electoral college to include more voters, while also eliminating the special delegates’ conference.

He stated that the decision to abolish the special delegates conference was fitting and would resolve the issue of monetization of the internal electoral process.

He contended that the list of 800 individuals in the special delegates conference was susceptible to manipulation by candidates, and thus eliminating it would serve the greater good.

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong added that this would have to be presented before the conference for it to be accepted.
