The police have apprehended a young man named Mamud for allegedly killing his four-month pregnant wife.
The suspect, a Fulani, reportedly slit the neck of his wife, Barikisu, in a town situated between Frimpongkrom, Nkrankwanta, Dormaa West, and Cote D’Ivoire.
According to available details, Mahmud allegedly committed the crime on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
It is reported that the suspect had previously threatened to harm his late wife on multiple occasions.
Barikisu had confided in her landlord, Abdullai, that she intended to return to her hometown due to her husband’s maltreatment.
During an interaction between the landlord, Mahmud, and Barikisu, the landlord received an emergency call and had to attend to it.
After the landlord’s departure, the suspect reportedly convinced his wife to forgive him so they could continue their marriage.
Later, Barikisu informed the landlord that she had forgiven her husband and would no longer return to her hometown.
Mahmud and Barikisu left together, and in the evening, while they were eating, the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and slit his pregnant wife’s throat, leaving her in a pool of blood.
He then absconded on the same day but returned to the area on Tuesday evening, leading to his subsequent arrest.
