A 50-year-old man has had his hand (lower forearm) severed for allegedly attempting to steal two children at Gambia Number Two, a suburb in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.
Reporting the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Kwame stated that the man is accused of entering a room in the area and picking up the children.
While he was making away with the minors, their older sibling attempted to rescue them but was unsuccessful.
The child then rushed back to inform their parents about the incident.
The father of the children allegedly grabbed a cutlass and pursued the 50-year-old man. He confronted him and reportedly struck him on the forehead. When the suspect tried to retaliate, the father allegedly severed his hand with the cutlass.
Bleeding heavily, the 50-year-old man attempted to flee but was chased.
Upon reaching a police post, he was questioned and reportedly confessed that he had attempted to steal the two children.
He was later taken to the hospital for medical care, but the severed hand is said to be missing and believed to be in the bush.
Nana Kwame added that the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, June 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, the father of the two children is said to have gone into hiding after the incident.
