He was arrested on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in connection with the alleged theft of company vehicles.
The former managing director of the state-owned enterprise was granted bail on Monday, June 30, 2025, after he made an appearance at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters, where he had been held.
Before the bail was granted, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director General for the CID, told journalists that Mr Jumah was arrested following an official complaint lodged by GIHOC Distilleries.
Mr Jumah was accused of unlawfully taking vehicles belonging to the state-owned beverage company.
“We received the petition to the effect that some vehicles, which were the property of that company, have been stolen by the said Maxwell Kofi Jumah. He is in our custody at the CID headquarters, and he is assisting in an investigation.
“I must say that as of this afternoon, we have retrieved three vehicles; the said vehicles that were stolen by him have been retrieved, so he is really assisting us in the investigation, and we will take it up from there,” added.
