The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with eLearning Africa, formally designating Ghana as the host of the 18th edition of the eLearning Africa Conference, scheduled to take place in Accra from June 3 to 5, 2026.

A brief ceremony was held at the Ministry, attended by officials from the Ministry, representatives from eLearning Africa, and key stakeholders in the education sector.

Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, welcomed the partnership in his remarks, affirming Ghana’s readiness to host the continent’s premier digital education event.

He emphasised the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to transform learning outcomes and ensure equitable access to quality education for all learners.

“This agreement reflects our broader national agenda to embrace innovation in education and strengthen Ghana’s leadership in the digital learning space,” the Minister said. “We look forward to welcoming Africa and the world to Accra in 2026.”

The Deputy Minister for Education described the MoU as a step forward in Ghana’s educational transformation.

He underscored the importance of the conference in highlighting Ghana’s efforts under key initiatives such as the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) and the Education Strategic Plan (2018–2030).

Dr. Apaak further indicated that Ghana, through the SCALE initiative, has attracted significant international support from partners including the Jacobs Foundation, Botnar Foundation, UBS Optimus Foundation, and leading cocoa and chocolate companies.

This support is enabling GALOP to reach over 15,000 schools, benefiting 2 million learners and 64,000 teachers.

“This is more than just hosting a conference, it’s a chance to demonstrate how innovation, technology, and partnership can drive real impact in education,” the Deputy Minister stated.

The MoU sets the stage for close collaboration between the Ministry and eLearning Africa in the lead-up to the 2026 conference, and aligns with Ghana’s vision of becoming a center of educational excellence in the region.
