Constituents at the Presby Polling Station, one of the polling stations where the rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency election is being held, are threatening to engage in a riot should the ballot boxes being used for the exercise not be put in the open.
According to the angry residents, during the December 7, 2014 elections, the ballot boxes were placed in the open, but the boxes have now been placed inside the church.
Due to this, the constituents are claiming that there is an attempt to rig the elections.
They have therefore cautioned those who have lined up to vote to stop or face their wrath.
The aggrieved constituents have also asked the Electoral Commission to halt the process or they will not allow the process to continue.
“We will not allow the process to continue if they refuse to bring the ballot boxes out. We have voted for years and never in our history have the ballot boxes been placed inside a church. They want to rig the elections, but we will not allow them. If they refuse to do what we want, what happened at Ayawaso Wuogon will happen here.”.
Another one said, “This is a do or die affair. It is not raining, so why have they sent the boxes inside? They want to rig the elections. The rigging could come from both sides of the two parties contesting. But we want to stop it, and so they should bring the boxes out.”
