Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
He succeeds Dr. Delese Darko, who served as CEO since 2017 and was recently appointed as the Director-General of the Africa Medicines Agency (AMA).
His appointment takes effect today, Monday, July 14, 2025.
Prior to this appointment, Professor Opuni served as the Board Chairman of the FDA.
The FDA announced the appointment through a post on its official Facebook page, extending its warmest congratulations to the new Acting CEO and expressing its readiness to work with him.
“The FDA extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Opuni on his appointment and looks forward to his leadership in advancing the Authority’s mandate of safeguarding public health and safety.”
