President John Dramani Mahama has, with immediate effect, directed the cancellation of fuel allowances and the allocation of fuel for all political appointees.

A statement issued by Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu revealed that this new directive forms part of a broader government initiative aimed at curbing expenditure, reducing costs, and redirecting public funds to critical priority areas.

He explained that the President holds the view that leadership must share in the sacrifices being asked of the populace.

This new development follows significant reductions in the size of government through the appointment of fewer Ministers and a leaner Presidential Office staff.

Other austerity measures already implemented include the termination of satellite TV subscriptions for offices at the Presidency and other government facilities.
