The Northern Regional Police Command has apprehended a pharmaceutical distributor, Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, 53, for unlawful possession of opioid medications, specifically tramadol and tramaking.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Mr. Sayuti was found in possession of 368 blisters of tramadol and 298 blisters of tramaking at Victory Cinema near Aboabo in the Tamale Metropolis at the time of his arrest.
A statement issued by the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lukman Neindow, disclosed that further investigations led officers to a warehouse in Fou, where they discovered 447 boxes of tramadol and 11 boxes of tramaking.
Mr. Sayuti was arraigned in court on Wednesday, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of restricted medications and unauthorised sale of the medications.
He has been remanded into prison custody and is scheduled to reappear on July 21, 2025.
According to the police, the suspect collapsed in court and is currently receiving medical attention at Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Alhaji Sayuti is said to have told the court that
