Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, has publicly declared his support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s ideal candidate for the 2028 general elections.
According to Hon. Acquah, Dr. Bawumia is the clear frontrunner, having already been marketed to Ghanaians by the NPP.
In a statement, Hon. Acquah, who claims to have been one of the first NPP MPs to declare his support for Dr. Bawumia, emphasized that the party’s delegates must choose Dr. Bawumia to reclaim power from the ruling National Democratic Congress.
He cited the examples of former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo, who won power after being given a second chance by the party.
Hon. Acquah expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia would win the 2028 elections if given the opportunity.
He also noted that the NDC’s false campaign messages against Dr. Bawumia during the 2024 election campaign period have been exposed, leaving them with no credible campaign message for the 2028 elections.
The MP also criticised the NDC government’s introduction of the Energy Sector Levy, popularly known as the D-levy, describing it as a sign of incompetence. He contrasted this with Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the energy sector, which involves harnessing 2000 megawatts of solar power to address energy challenges.
Hon. Acquah concluded that Dr. Bawumia is a visionary leader who will transform Ghana and urged the NPP to choose him as their candidate for the 2028 elections.
