Security analyst Andrews Asiedu Tetteh claims the recent killing of a Kusase chief and other individuals in Kumasi is a spillover of the ongoing Bawku conflict.
He asserted that if authorities don’t implement immediate measures to address the current crisis, which he described as an act of terrorism, there will be more spillover events.
Tetteh declared that the involvement of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II contributed to the killings in Kumasi.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the analyst noted that the first crisis he helped resolve was a conflict, but what we are witnessing today is terrorism.
“The first incident Otumfuo helped resolve was a chieftaincy dispute, but what we are witnessing today has moved beyond conflict and is now a terrorist attack, and the respected traditional ruler lacks the needed skills and expertise in resolving terrorism. In my personal view, the Asantehene should not have accepted to be involved in the ongoing crisis,” he stated.
He warned that if authorities fail to tackle the issue, the spillover will increase by 30 percent in a few months.
“Unless something drastic is done about what is happening, the spillover from the terrorist attack going on in Bawku will worsen,” he added, further stating that the government lacks the will and commitment to deal with the situation in Bawku.
