Bernard Bediako Baidoo, a private legal practitioner and current constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has won the party’s parliamentary primary for the Akwatia Constituency.
With 380 votes out of 980 valid ballots cast, he defeated two contenders, Henry Boakye Yiadom, a former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, and Rasmus Koneh Ali.
The two other candidates secured 226 and 366 votes, respectively.
Following the official count, Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, John Appiah Baffoe, declared Bernard Bediako Baidoo the winner.
He will contest against NPP’s Solomon Asumadu in the September 2, 2025, by-election.
