The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has received GHS 67,671,080 from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission to pay the non-feeding portion of teacher trainee allowances.
The funds cover five months of allowances for students at 47 public Colleges of Education.
Saajida Shiraz, the CEO of the SLTF, announced the news on her official Facebook page, stating that the last of the funds came in on July 29, 2025.
The SLTF then paid five months’ worth of allowances to 30,157 students at 37 colleges on August 1, 2025, using the data they had at the time.
Shiraz said, “We are currently receiving more student data from the Colleges of Education, and will pay as soon as that data is received and cleared after pre-audits.”
She added, “The Students Loan Trust Fund is committed to transparency in our operations. Please indulge us as we go through the necessary operational motions to ensure you receive the support due you from government.”
Shiraz also asked for respectful engagement on her social media page.
“I have noticed some trolls recently on my posts, and will like to request nicely that we keep engagements respectful. Our team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that government support reaches students on time.”
She also mentioned the ongoing work on No-Fees-Stress reimbursements. “We are also still working on No-Fees-Stress reimbursements, and the extended deadline is to ensure all students eligible for reimbursements are duly registered.”
