The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has admonished journalists, bloggers and the general public to be circumspect in their commentary regarding the military helicopter crash.
GAF, in a plea for respect and patience, called on the public to temper speculation surrounding the recent helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
The crash, which occurred in the Ashanti Region, has generated numerous unsubstantiated commentaries, prompting the military to appeal for sensitivity.
“For the sake of the bereaved families and loved ones, the Armed Forces urges media practitioners, panellists, social commentators, bloggers, and content creators to be circumspect in their reportage,” the statement noted.
According to GAF, it was aware of the significant public interest in the accident and assured that a thorough and painstaking investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
It indicated that any conclusions based on opinions or conjectures at this stage would be “premature and misleading”.
GAF added that it would take steps in collaborating with international agencies to bring finality to the matter.
