Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Jibril, revealed that he was shocked and didn’t know what to do after he received information about the helicopter crash that killed eight gallant people, including his boss, Dr Edward Omane Boamah.
He eulogised Dr Boamah, who served as Defence Minister, describing him as a man of exceptional talent, integrity, and loyalty and, most importantly, a man who was incorruptible.
Speaking in a recent interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said Dr Omane Boamah was a fine brain whose dedication, commitment to work, and diligence won the party its massive victory in the 2024 general elections.
Between the time the incident occurred and the official announcement, he doubted and prayed for survivors, but after the news was officially released and confirmed their deaths, he was traumatised.
‘Dr Omane Boamah was a dedicated, faithful, and loyal individual who served his country and party well,’ he added. ‘He was a man of integrity; he had an unquestionable character. I worked closely with Dr Omane Boamah.
He was a team player and someone who didn’t lord over others. This is somebody you could call at 2:00 am and 4:00 am, and he would still have time to engage you. That is how we were.’
Mahdi Jibril noted that the party personalities who were also with Dr Omane Boamah were loyal party faithfuls who served the NDC and their country well.
‘The NDC lost dedicated, faithful, and loyal party members in the tragic crash. I was traumatised by the crash,’ he said.”
