Morning show host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Kwabena Agyapong, has penned an open letter to President John Dramani Mahama about the terrible state of the Pokuase-Nsawam road.

The host painted a vivid and painful picture of a road that has devolved into a “jungle inhabited by wild potholes, caves, valleys and bottomless mud.”

He stated in his open letter that the contractor’s activities have only “exacerbated the already poor condition,” leading to unanswered questions about the project’s true purpose.

Kwabena Agyapong indicated that drivers have withdrawn their vehicles from the route, and those who remain are charging “double and, in some cases, triple fares.”

He posited that the road’s current state is an “embarrassment to our collective state as a country” and that to say it needs “urgent attention is an understatement.”

The letter’s submission is a humble but firm demand for an end to the suffering and a tangible solution to a crisis that has been festering for far too long.

Open letter to President John Dramani Mahama on the state of the Pokuase-Nsawam road.

Dear Sir,

I come to you as a citizen of Ghana with a heart laden with pain and anguish. My pain is one that resonates with thousands of commuters who use the Pokuase to Nsawam road on a daily basis. Your Excellency, the Pokuase to Nsawam road, has now become a jungle inhabited by all kinds of wild animals but, in this case, wild potholes, caves, valleys and bottomless mud.

Portions of the road have now assumed a certain nature that is indescribable because there exists no nomenclature to describe how horrible those portions are.

The Pobiman-Satellite-Samsam stretch of the road is now a viscous mud that shows no mercy to any vehicle that dares to cross. The mud grips your tires like football grasped by a goalkeeper.

Mr. President, every minute spent on the road is a heartbreak. When it was announced a couple of years back that the road was going to be rehabilitated, commuters were elated. Little did we know that the rehabilitation is going to turn the road into an unknown land, without shape or form and a death trap. Each time drivers ply the road, they kiss goodbye to the healthy condition of their cars. You drive on the road with a frown face, a cringed fist, and a lot of prayers.

Activities of the contractor so far has exacerbated the already poor condition of the road leaving in our minds unanswered questions as to whether the contractor was brought in to make the road better or to make an already bad situation worst. Most car owners and drivers have withdrawn their vehicles from plying the road.

The few that ply the road have resorted to charging double and, in some cases, triple fares. Passengers are left at the mercy of this cruelty because they have no option. They can’t help but accept and chew this dry bone thrown at them. The wailing on the road from both young and old pierce deep in the heart and the gory nature gives nightmare. All calls seem to have fallen on death ears.

Your Excellency, is there an end in sight to the suffering of commuters of the Pokuase-Nsawam road? To say the road needs urgent attention is an understatement. Its current horrendous state is an embarrassment to our collective state as a country. Let the cry of thy people reach your ears Mr. President.

I humbly submit
