The Mankessim Fire Station responded promptly to prevent the ONYXMA Fuel Filling Station from being destroyed by a fire emanating from a vehicle near the dispensary point.
According to the Service, the crew arrived at 10:46 pm and effectively contained the fire from a Hyundai Sonata with registration number GE 2672-09.
The fire was brought under control at 10:47 pm and fully extinguished at 11:10 pm.
One casualty, the driver of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital by bystanders prior to the crew’s arrival.
A statement issued by the GNFS indicated that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The timely response by the Mankessim Fire Station averted a potentially catastrophic situation, the statement added.
