A court petition challenging Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani’s election as the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa has been dismissed.

The petition was filed at the Obuasi High Court by former Trade and Industry Minister Kobina Tahiru Hammond.

In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, presided over by Justice Kwabena Twumasi, the court imposed a fine of ¢60,000 on K. T. Hammond for what it described as “time-wasting.”

During the 2024 general elections, Hammond lost the Adansi Asokwa seat to Dorani by 954 votes, with Dorani polling 14,229 votes against Hammond’s 13,275. Dissatisfied with the outcome, the former Minister filed a petition at the Obuasi High Court on January 15, 2025.

However, after failing to appear before the court on three consecutive occasions, the court proceeded to deliver its ruling on August 19, 2025.

Richard Andy, the lawyer for the current MP, told journalists after the proceedings that the petition filed by the former MP had no legal basis.

According to him, the ruling would allow his client to focus on his mandate.
