Die-hard fans of the controversial Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale have stormed the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to demand the release of Shatta Wale.
The musician was detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after he had honored an invitation by officials at EOCO.
He is being held in connection with tax obligations on a yellow Lamborghini vehicle.
Management of the musician, in a statement, disclosed that Shatta Wale voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO offices on Wednesday, along with his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations.
The statement further added that efforts were underway to get the musician released as soon as possible.
“We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity.
We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation. We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process.”
However, the fans have stormed EOCO on motorbikes with some of them clad in red bands and dressed in fugu and wielding items including swords.
Videos of their arrival at EOCO have since gone viral on social media, with some of them declaring, “we have arrived. We are the fans of Shatta Wale and demand his immediate release.”
