As part of efforts aimed at resolving ongoing labour issues, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, convened a meeting with representatives of disgruntled teachers earlier this week.
The meeting, which also included the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), provided an opportunity to openly address teacher grievances and establish a clear path forward.
In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations for the GES, authorities noted that the engagement was “open, frank, and fruitful,” with teachers voicing their concerns directly to the leadership.
In response, both the Minister and GES Management offered assurances of swift action, demonstrating a commitment to resolving the issues promptly.
The meeting also focused on understanding the specific challenges faced by educators across the country.
The Minister Haruna Iddrisu issued a direct order for a comprehensive letter to be drafted.
According to the statement issued by Daniel Fenyi, the letter will detail the specific concerns and provide an accurate count of the affected teachers.
It is to be forwarded immediately to the Ministry of Finance for the necessary action to be taken.
The Minister further pledged to use “everything within his mandate” to ensure the issues are resolved as quickly as possible, offering a strong assurance to the teaching community.
Additionally, the service reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to the welfare of teachers.
