The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that the 2025/2026 academic calendar has not fully reverted to the single-track system.
This was in response to several media publications that the double-track system had been scrapped.
A statement issued by the GES indicated that the upcoming academic year accommodates both single-track and double-track schools, as explicitly outlined in the calendar released last week.
“The 2025/2026 academic year officially begins on Saturday, 18th October 2025, when all first-year students are expected to report,” the statement read.
The GES indicated that the academic year will end on 21st August 2026 for single-track schools, while double-track schools will close on 4th September 2026.
The Public Relations Officer of GES, who signed the statement, explained that the clarification was to ensure transparent and accurate communication to students, parents, and the wider public.

The academic calendar, released last week, makes clear provision for both ????????????????????????-???????????????????? and ????????????????????????-???????????????????? schools. The 2025/2026 academic year officially begins on ????????????????????????????????, ???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ????????????????, when all first-year students are expected to report. The academic year will end on:
