The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has urged Japanese businesses to deepen their investments in Ghana, stating that the country remains a reliable gateway for companies looking to expand into Africa.
She shared these remarks at the Kansai Africa Business Forum in Osaka, a side event of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare highlighted several opportunities in Ghana’s textile, automotive, green industry, and carbon financing sectors.
“With the right partnership, Ghana can become a competitive force for high-quality textile and apparel exports to African and global markets,” she said.
The Minister also noted that Ghana already hosts vehicle assembly plants and is positioning itself as a leading automotive hub under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“As AfCFTA gains momentum, regional demand for vehicles and components is expected to grow rapidly,” she said.
Furthermore, Ofosu-Adjare reiterated Ghana’s commitment to green industrialization through initiatives like renewable energy, waste-to-value projects, and low-carbon manufacturing. She believes these initiatives will benefit investors.
“These initiatives will not only reduce emissions but also generate new revenue streams for investors,” she added.
She concluded by emphasizing Ghana’s readiness and strategic position to partner with Japanese businesses.
“Ghana is open, eagerly prepared, and strategically positioned to be your most reliable partner in Africa,” she said.
