A 22-year-old man was shot dead at an illegal mining site in Aboabo, a town in the Dormaa Central District of Ghana’s Bono region.
The deceased has been identified as Isahaku Yeboah.
Reporting the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio, Ebenezer Manaso-Cdjoe, also known as “DCE,” said the area has become notorious for illegal mining activities.
He stated that Isahaku Yeboah had joined a group of other young men to engage in illegal mining.
However, while at the site, they were confronted by armed men, some of whom were reportedly part of a task force.
According to the report, all the other young men who went to the illegal mining site managed to escape, but Isahaku Yeboah was allegedly shot and died at the scene.
His body has since been retrieved and deposited at the morgue while the police continue their investigation.
