Mr. Atta Kwame Adzoe, a 52-year-old teacher, has embarked on a journey by foot from Nkwanta to Dambai to deliver a petition to the Regional Minister, which he hopes will be presented to Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
The petition addresses the ongoing conflict in Nkwanta.
According to a report by Abdul Samali Razark of Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Adzoe is raising concerns about the conflict’s negative impact on residents, particularly students.
Before beginning his walk, health professionals conducted a medical check to ensure he was fit for the journey.
He is being accompanied by members of the Ghana Police Service, officials from the Ghana Ambulance Service, and a group of journalists providing coverage.
Mr. Adzoe expressed worry that if the situation is not resolved, it could deprive residents of their livelihoods, education, and stability.
The Nkwanta township has been severely affected by the renewed ethnic conflict, which began on June 25, 2025.
The violence has resulted in several deaths, including that of a final-year student at Nkwanta Senior High School.
Additionally, several people have been injured, including two female day students who sustained gunshot wounds.
As a result of the violence, all public and private schools in the town have been closed to protect the lives of students and teachers.
Commenting on the situation, Mr. Adzoe urged authorities to address the conflict promptly to restore peace to the area.
