The District Attorney’s office of Utah County has officially announced that it would seek the death penalty for the alleged murderer of Charlie Kirk.
The suspect, Tyler Robinson, who was arrested in connection with the shooting, was arraigned virtually in court.
He faces charges related to the alleged murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10 at Utah Valley University.
Presiding Judge Tony Graf read the seven charges to Robinson, who was given a court-appointed lawyer after being deemed indigent. Prosecutors have filed an intent to seek the death penalty, citing aggravating factors in the case.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 29 at 10 a.m. local time (16:00 GMT).
Details presented before the court show that evidence collected by investigators, including DNA on the suspected murder weapon and a texted confession.
