The Ministry of Education has announced that the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Resolution Centre is resolving placement-related concerns for candidates nationwide.

A statement issued by the Ministry disclosed that over 564,000 out of 590,390 qualified candidates have been successfully placed in Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes.

The Ministry stated that since the centre was established, it has received a total of 1,358 cases, the majority of which relate to school and residence changes.

Out of the figure, 1,100 cases, representing 76% of requests, involve movements from Category C and B schools to Category A schools, 14% from B to B, and 10% from C to C.

The statement, however, explained that “While the Ministry of Education appreciates the strong interest of parents and guardians in Category A schools, placement is determined by raw scores, available vacancies, and competition levels. As such, even high-performing candidates may not always secure their first-choice schools if competition and vacancy levels are high. Genuine concerns brought to the Centre are being reviewed and addressed accordingly.”

It further indicated that “Candidates’ residences cannot ordinarily be changed. However, special concessions are considered in health challenges or family relocation cases”.

The Ministry also encouraged those who couldn’t be automatically placed to use the self-placement system, as 70% of those who were not placed automatically have been placed through the system.

”Qualified students not placed through the automatic system are encouraged to use the self-placement option. So far, about 70% of such candidates have been successfully placed through this process. Change of Programme: These requests are also being reviewed by the Secretariat.”

In the issue of change of programme for the candidates, the Ministry said “These requests are also being reviewed by the Secretariat”.

The statement concluded by assuring parents and guardians that all outstanding issues would be resolved.

”The CSSPS Secretariat assures parents, guardians, and students that all outstanding concerns are being handled diligently to ensure a fair and smooth placement process.Additionally, data for re-entry students is currently being processed by the Secretariat.”
