Aspiring presidential candidate Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has asserted that Ghana is in urgent need of renewal, regeneration, and rejuvenation.
During an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the former press secretary to President John Agyekum Kufour stated that repeating the same actions will not yield different results.
He used the analogy of a snake shedding its old skin to illustrate that the country needs a fundamental departure from its old systems of governance to achieve development.
According to Mr. Agyepong, effective governance is defined by service to the people, accountability, transparency, and integrity.
Mr. Agyepong described himself as a candidate who embodies these qualities, highlighting his lack of corruption, greed, and selfishness.
He positioned himself as a leader who would not betray the public’s trust.
“Ghana stands in urgent need of renewal, regeneration, and rejuvenation. We need to change from our old ways. Just like a snake, we need to shed our old skin for a new one. If you keep doing the same thing, you get the same results. We need to have a drastic departure from what we have done in the past if we want greater results.”
He appealed to the delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for him, emphasizing that he was trained in the core values of the party.
He recounted his sacrifices and loyalty to the NPP, stating, ”I think, in all humility, if the NPP delegates send me as their candidate—someone who has been tutored in the values and traditions of the NPP, someone who was trained by former President Kufour and other distinguished party personalities—I will not disappoint them. I have sacrificed for the NPP, I stand by the truth, I was ostracized and abandoned, but I remained loyal to the NPP, prayed to God to grant me strength, and today, I am here seeking their support.”
He also advised his party to respect Ghanaians, maintain decent communication, and avoid negative campaigns to rebuild public trust.
