The Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, has issued a strong rebuke to Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The peace advocate characterized Abronye as a bitter and misguided individual, urging those close to him to offer sound counsel.
Madam Daniels’ remarks were a direct response to disparaging comments Abronye made against her after she had cautioned him to cease his public attacks on former First Lady, Lordina Mahama. Madam Daniels had previously warned Abronye that if he did not stop, she would mobilize Ghanaian women to confront him.
In a subsequent rant, Abronye, however, reportedly “took Madam Daniels to the cleaners,” using “unprintable words” and further alleging that Madam Daniels had been financially compensated by the former First Lady to act in her defense.
Responding to these accusations, Madam Daniels stated:
“I do not entertain stupidity, nor do I entertain lunatics. I would not have responded, but I believe Abronye has misbehaved for too long without anyone speaking sense into his head. How dare he insult the former First Lady? If he had the First Lady in his own family, would he have insulted her? He claims to pity me, but I also pity him. If he is truly a man, he should inform us about his mother’s achievements. Abronye is not a man who can stand in front of me.”
She firmly reiterated her readiness to mobilize women across Ghana to oppose Abronye should he dare to attack the former First Lady again.
Madam Daniels further asserted that Abronye is not fit to lead the NPP, even at the local level, let alone serve as a regional chairman. She also categorically denied all the allegations Abronye made against her during his social media live broadcast.
She insisted: “Our focus is to stop this culture of foolishness, insults, and attacks on people. He is setting a bad example for young people, and that is what we aim to stop. I am a woman and a Ghanaian, and we believe he is setting bad examples and denigrating women. As an organization, we do not want people attacking women, whether they are NDC or NPP. It is an unhealthy trend, and he must be stopped immediately.”
