President John Dramani Mahama has presented an amount of GH¢500,000 to the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team, who represented the country and emerged victorious at the World University Football Games.
He commended the team for defeating Brazil in the final to lift the trophy.
Addressing the team at the Jubilee House, he described their victory as an extraordinary achievement that has brought pride to Ghana.
The team and management were at the Presidency to officially present the cup to the President.
“The presidency is also pleased to present you with something. We won’t let you go empty handed. So this is GHS500,000. It is a reward to the team for the good job you have done,” President Mahama noted.
Meanwhile, the government has also promised to present a 66-seater bus to the school, in addition to the monetary award given to them.
