The Member of Parliament for Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam, has announced plans to introduce a teacher award scheme to motivate educators in the constituency.
He revealed this during the presentation of awards to the best 2025 BECE candidates from 56 basic schools.
Hon. Agyinsam met with the District Director of Education to discuss the initiative.
Under the scheme, the best teachers in the two senior high schools in the constituency will receive a brand new laptop and other items.
Additionally, there will be an award for the best non-teaching staff in all schools. Hon. Agyinsam emphasised the importance of motivating teachers, stating that they play a crucial role in shaping the future of children.
The MP also expressed concern about the lack of toys in kindergarten schools in the constituency, which can make learning dull for young children.
He promised to provide toys to 20 of the 43 kindergarten schools in the constituency by the end of the year. In the area of sports, Hon. Agyinsam lamented the decline of Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency’s performance in school sports, which was once a dominant force in the Central Region.
He pledged to promote youth and school sports by providing jerseys and other sporting items.
Furthermore, the MP announced plans to build an ultra-modern ICT center, which will be named Agyinsam ICT Center of Excellence. The center will provide students with computer literacy skills, which are essential in today’s digital age.
Hon. Agyinsam advised students to focus on their studies, particularly in subjects like medicine and engineering, and promised to support those who are interested in pursuing these fields.
The MP’s vision is to elevate the education sector in Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency to the top in the Central Region. With these initiatives, he aims to motivate teachers, support students, and promote education in the constituency.
