Parliament finally resumes sitting on October 21 after an indefinite postponement

Parliament will commence its third meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament on October 21, 2025.

​This was contained in a notice issued and signed by the Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin.

​Parliament was initially scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday, October 14, for the start of the new meeting.

​However, the Speaker later rescinded the decision, indicating that the resumption had been postponed indefinitely.

​In an official notice issued from his office on Monday, October 6, the Speaker explained that the decision was taken due to circumstances beyond his control.

​“I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” the notice stated

The Speaker has issued a new notice informing members that the House will now resume sitting on October 21, 2025.

​He issued the new notice today, Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

​”Pursuant to the notice to defer the commencement of the third meeting of the first session of the ninth parliament of the fourth republic dated 6th October 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, pursuant to order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, give notice that the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall now commence on Tuesday, 21st day of October 2025 at 1400 hours at Parliament House, Accra.”
