The assaulted officer was on duty with a Community Protection Assistant who was conducting stop and search operations along the Garu–Nakpanduri road.

It said the rider was instructed to stop but he became aggressive, assaulted the officer and fled the scene with his tricycle.

A statement issued by the Command stated that the team intercepted a tricycle loaded with sacks of groundnuts and passengers sitting on top. “When the officer instructed the rider to stop and park properly for inspection, he became aggressive and attacked the officer. The suspect then fled the scene on the tricycle. Efforts are underway to arrest the tricycle rider and ensure he faces the full rigours of the law.”
