A construction worker who got trapped under a collapsed building at Kasoa New Market in the Central Region has been rescued by the Ghana Fire Service.
Details emerging indicate that it took the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) two hours to rescue the victim.
A team of paramedics was at the scene to administer pain relief and other emergency care to keep the worker stable as fire officers carefully removed the rubble.
The victim sustained a severe leg injury.

He was first rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic and later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for advanced treatment.
His identity is however yet to be established. Two of his colleagues managed to escape the incident without injury.
Speaking to journalists, the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Sabah Serwonoo Banini expressed gratitude to the rescue team for their efforts and professional conduct.
“We are grateful to God and to the team from the Fire Service and the Ambulance Service. They really discharged their duties professionally. A medical team was on standby at the Polyclinic to receive the victim immediately after his rescue,” he said.

The collapse involved a residential building that was under renovation.
The owner, Ali Charles is said to have hired the victim and two other masons to reinforce the structure after noticing cracks.
The Municipal NADMO office and the Works and Engineering Department of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly have been tasked to conduct an investigation into the incident.
