The NDC’s Women’s Wing’s silence on Abronye’s insults to the First Lady is terrible; they must act now – Nyonkopa Daniels

Madam Nyonkopa Daniels, the Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, has publicly criticized the Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their sustained silence regarding the insults being directed at the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, by Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.

Madam Daniels stated that it is unfortunate that Abronye DC has been allowed to use unprintable and despicable language in describing the First Lady.

She expressed deep concern that the NDC, and specifically its Women’s Wing, has remained silent and failed to take any action against Abronye DC, who serves as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman.

In her view, this inaction stems from a perception that the NDC’s leadership has become weak following their electoral victory, with attention diverted to securing political appointments while neglecting crucial party business.

She specifically called out Mrs. Hanna Louisa Bissiw-Kotei, alleging that the Women’s Wing has been left unattended as its leader focuses on her new role within the government.

Madam Daniels issued a stern warning to the NDC, suggesting that should this trend continue, the party risks growing weaker and suffering a major defeat in the upcoming 2028 general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, she elaborated: “I have heard from party members that the party has abandoned their work at the headquarters. When you go to the headquarters, you will not see anyone there. The NDC serial callers have also abandoned the party, complaining that they are not being treated well after the party won power. Everybody is chasing after a position. Abronye DC is peddling falsehoods and attacking the First Lady, and yet, no person in the party has responded to him.”

”The worrying part is that the Women’s Wing, which is supposed to have addressed this matter, has refused to speak out. The NDC should go back to the drawing board and re-strategize, return stronger, and confront the NPP by defusing their lies. The NPP has decided to peddle misinformation against the NDC and the government, and so the party must rise up and do what is right. Those chasing after positions should stop.”

Madam Nyonkopa Daniels further added: “Where is the NDC’s Women’s Organizer? She has taken a post and deserted the Women’s Wing. We had strong women in the past who worked very hard. Is it not unfortunate that Abronye DC is insulting the First Lady and yet nobody is reacting? That should not happen, and so I encourage the party to take immediate measures in dealing with the matter.”
