The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has revealed that its rescue mission at the site of the collapsed building at Roman Ridge in Accra on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, was successful.
Public Relations Officer for the Service, Desmond E. Ackah, Divisional Officer II (DOII), who provided the update, indicated that 14 persons were rescued.
They were then transported to the 37 Military and Ridge Hospitals for medical care. Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he disclosed that eight of the victims had been treated while the remaining ones are still under care.
He also noted that the area where the collapse occurred had been cordoned off to prevent anyone from going there.
This is to help preserve the site for further investigation. He added that the 14 affected persons were all males.
A structural collapse occurred at the Roman Ridge Engineering Center, situated between a 10-storey high-rise apartment and the Ghana Institute of Engineering at Roman Ridge.
The building was reportedly under construction by Fabrico Builders at the time of the incident. Personnel from the GNFS were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12:18 p.m., and a rescue team from the National Headquarters, led by ADO I Minnoh, was immediately dispatched to the scene, arriving at 12:29 p.m.
The cause of the structural collapse is yet to be determined, as investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
